    heyo guys

so far, my older sister and i have sat down for a few hours and worked on writing down plans for HSH (home spirit home, the game) in a google doc

I did a little bit more digging into game engines, and right now I am looking at PyGame Zero and Arcade-

both of them have their perks i'm sure, but i personally don't really know where to start
PyGame Zero would probably be easier since it was built for beginners, but Arcade might end up being the better long turn option once i get passed the learning curve
it probably isn't a good idea to switch engines mid-development, so let me know if anyone has any additional opinions on which one (if either, or if you have a different one in mind)

currently, the early demo is going to involve programming one playable character and their movements, combat system, and their starting area. My older sister suggested having all four of the characters programmed for the demo (still looking at this being a multiplayer real-time combat game), but that'll probably be the step after just getting one (if i can program one of them successfully, i can do all 4 is my thought)

i'm not totally opposed to making a multiplayer game, but i think it would be better (at least for me being not so great at coding and knowing not so much about video game development) to make something that's singleplayer initially and then can progress into multiplayer

our shared through was to have players start off alone in different areas, moving through rooms to learn how to play their character and the basic game mechanics before reuniting with the other characters and beginning the actual story/game

this way, i can work on each character one by one before integrating all of them together for the multiplayer part

and looking at it in a very long term way, i could probably put off the multiplayer part for a while if it is really complicated to do- we'll just have to see

i've made a bit of progress on starting to learn python, obviously i'm in the skyrim phase now so it'll be a bit slow but that's okay, there's time

i definitely won't start looking to actual program anything until the start of the second semester, but i'll probably get my older sister to start working on graphics and character sprites for when i do get to it

anyways, dear readers, if you have any ideas or comments, feel free to email me (meverett 7) or make a post in the discussion section of my blog

    thanks and signing off,
