• ice :(

i have a love-hate relationship with winter time

on one hand, i love the colder weather since it means i can wear everyday, all day, without question. i love sweatshirts, i love hoodies, of course i love the time in which i can waer them without being unbelievably hot.

there's a lot of other things too, snow is always nice even if we don't USUALLY get it anymore. i've been enjoying the snow these past few days, i love how it sparkles when you shine a light on it.

ice is another thing though. on one hand, ice is cool. literally. it is very cold. but in the sense of "cool" that i meant, i like icicles and seeing stuff frozen.

    sometimes.

today, i nearly slipped on ice hidden under snow at least 3 times. as i walked through the snow, i got a bunch of ice shards in my boots, which were initially uncomfortable and stabbed me, and then melted, leaving me with wet socks. not a vibe.

the water bowl that my neighbor's barn cats drink from was frozen solid, so i refilled it with hot water and they drank literally all of it and i felt bad having to refill it a second time with cold water instead :(

besides that, there's 3 buckets of water that i had to go and break the ice in, except i guess my coworker??? kinda weird that i have a coworker technically but whatever???? she broke the ice but didn't get it out so i had to struggle to pull the ice chunks out and got my glove wet and i couldn't feel my fingers afterwards.

one of the buckets was really empty so i was like, "oh, i'll just put the hose in it to refill it and go deal with the other buckets!"

    wrong.

    terrible idea.

i get back to that bucket and no water has left the hose.

    it is frozen.
    completely shut.

so i text my boss and i'm like, "the bucket is empty and hose frozen what do???" and she was like "break the ice on the little trough" which i turn and look at, it is completely frozen solid.

we're talking a good 3-4 inches of solid ice, i stood on top of it and it didn't break at all. terrible. i get paid 20 dollars for this?????? 20 dollars a night to freeze???? nuh uh.

so i text her and i'm like, "no break but i will figure out" and she's like, "don't worry about it" but i was worrying about it

there's another small trough that had water in it and wasn't frozen solid so i ended up doing like 7 trips back and forth scooping water into a bucket and then dumping it into the really empty bucket.

and then finally, i got to walk home! in the cold! with ice in my boots and my fingers turning red!

i almost slipped walking up a ramp too :( my parentals got like half the snow off but left random patches of ice so i had to shuffle up it

that's all that's the entire post, me complaining about ice and being cold
