    Ahoy dear users,

    As fair few of you know, we used to host watch parties here on GlitchNet through a service called Kosmi.io

    Fewer still know that Kosmi.io had a netplay feature for NES and SNES games.

    Will we still use Kosmi.io for watch parties? Yes. (Until we add video streaming distributors into the GlitchEcosystem TM)

    Will I ever use Kosmi.io for using netplay on retro consoles? No.

    Afterplay.io has just today announced the public release of their Netplay feature. It's a little finicky right now with the way it loads players into controller slots, but it's working well and all you need to play online is one member with a premium subscription. Supposedly it's been released on all consoles, but I haven't pushed it past NES/SNES yet.

    Exciting stuff for retro emulators. The days of hacking together mods for standalone emulators to get netplay working may soon be behind us all together.
